A lid that presses on

A Snaplock lid has no latches: you set it on the rim and press around the edge until it sits flat. That makes it the line for bins you open every day, crafts on a shelf, kids' things in a cubby, a pantry overflow. The bins stack with the lids on.

The small bins, 6, 12 and 15 quarts, line up on a closet shelf or in a drawer. The 28 qt bin is long and shallow, and the 41 qt bin is long and low, about 6 inches tall, for a closet floor or the space under a bed. The 56 qt bin is the deep one.

Lid colors and packs

Lids come in white, gray, blue or black depending on the size. The 6 qt bin comes in packs of up to forty, which is the way to fill a craft room or a classroom in one order.

Six products make up this shelf of the HOMZ storage line, from $30.68.

Storage in a child's room is not a toy chest: CPSC warns that heavy closed lids and small parts are the two dangers for young children.
